Mid / South Canterbury Secondary Schools Duathlon

Join us at Levels Raceway, Timaru, for the Mid/South Canterbury Secondary Schools Duathlon.
Open to individuals and teams, the event follows on from a Primary Schools event in the morning, making for a full and exciting day of racing.
Distances are kept short and fast by design. Short enough so anyone can make the start line and allowing fast and tight racing for the more serious athletes.
DATE: Wednesday 14th October
DISTANCES / FORMAT
Individual race: Run 2km / Bike 9.5km (4 laps) / Run 2km
Para / AWD Du - Run 500m / 2.4km Bike (1 lap) / 500m Run
Regular relay: 2-3 Team members (1 or 2 runners and a cyclist) each doing individual legs over the distances of Run 2km / Bike 9.5km (4 laps) / Run 2km
Athletes who race the individual event will have time to double up and do a team if they want to

ENTRY FEES
Individual entry fee $35
Relay team (2 or 3 athletes) $45 (for the whole team)
All schools entering more than 3 students must provide a marshal

Students can enter themselves independent of the school but they must have a permission slip
Entry will close the Sunday before the race but PLEASE enter early to ensure we have a well organised event.
PRIZES:
Individuals: Medals will be awarded to the top 3 in each individual category
Teams - Certificates will be awarded in each category
RULES (basic)
Drafting is allowed on the bike leg for individuals but not teams
Time trial bikes are not allowed
Athletes must wear a helmet whenever they are touching their bike and shoes on the run leg
Mount/Dismount line - athletes cannot get on their bike until they are over the mount line. They must be off their bikes before the dismount line.
All participants must be attending school and have permission from their school to compete
Out of region athletes can compete but they are not eligible for prizes
