WHAT IS THE PROGRAMME?
The junior programme has been running for many years for children aged 10 years and above. It is run over Term 4 and Term 1 of the school year. We have a team of coaches who will help your children with triathlon specific skills across all three sports. All abilities are welcome however it is expected the athletes can swim at least 100m continuously without much difficulty to be part of the programme.
Children are split into groups based on age and ability.
Junior squad – ages 10-13. (9 year olds can sign up if they are competent swimmers and can safely ride on the road)
Teens squad – ages 13+
All children are encouraged to take part in the local triathlons over summer (Triathlon Festival, Christmas Cracker, Corsair Classic and Sea2Sky). There are duathlon options for those that are not quite up to longer open water swims.
WHEN ARE TRAINING SESSIONS ?
Junior squad (10-13 years)
Teens as above with an additional session during the week + some support with personal training outside of group sessions.
At this stage we do not offer any sessions in the winter period (Terms 2 and 3 of the school year).
WHERE ARE SESSIONS?
Training sessions are at a variety of venues with Waltham Pool as our main base (we have a club room there where we can do indoor bike sessions if the weather is rubbish).

Mountain bikes are fine and encouraged for younger athletes.
We like children to purchase a t-shirt and wear to training
We also have Tri Suits for purchase for racing (it is best to save them for racing not use too much during training)
Discounts are applied for families or 2 or 3 kids.
You also become a member of the Canterbury Tri Club so are eligible for discounts on race entry fees.
Teens - there will be an extra charge for teens if enough demand to run a 3rd session
These fees do not include pool admission.

PAST ATHLETES (that have signed up using mindbody system).
OPTION 1(by far the easiest) - if you have the Mindbody app on your phone simply search for Canterbury Triathlon (make it a favourite) click on "view pricing" then "Junior Tri Session" then choose single, family or 2 or 3. If you want to buy merchandise that is done via the website.
OPTION 2 via the website. The steps are listed below:
Login to mindbody using past account details
Click on Membership & Products Tab
Click on Membership/Services
In the drop down menu select "Junior Tri Programme"
Choose single or family membership
If you require a tri suit or t-shirt click on "products" and make your selection
Click on shopping cart and check out

NEW ATHLETES - In order to sign up on Mindbody you will need about 5 - 10 minutes to enter all of your personal and billing information CLICK HERE . This is then stored on our database within Mindbody and whenever you log in using your email address and password in the future you will not need to change anything (unless you have changed address etc). It is just like signing up for anything else online. It is completely secure.
