Mid / South Canterbury PRIMARY Schools Duathlon

Join us at Levels Raceway, Timaru, for the Mid/South Canterbury Schools Duathlon.

DATE: Wednesday 14th October

DISTANCES / FORMAT

  • Year 7 & 8: Run 2km (2 laps) / Bike ~7.2km (3 laps) / Run 1km (1 lap)

  • Year 5 & 6: Run 1km (1 lap) / Bike ~4.8km (2 laps) / Run 1km (1 lap)

  • AWD:Run 500m / Bike 2.4km (1 lap) / Run 500m

ENTRY LIMITS: we have a limit of 75 athletes in each category (eg year 6 boys)

PROVISIONAL SCHEDULE (changes will be made based on entry levels)

  • 9:15am - Registration opens

  • 10:15am - event briefing

  • 10:45am Year 5 & 6 Boys / Open race start

  • 10:55am Year 5 & 6 Girls race start + teams

  • 11:25am Year 7 & 8 Boys race start

  • 11:35pm Year 7 & 8 Girls race start + teams

  • From 12pm clear transition as the Secondary SChools event will follow

ENTRY FEES

  • $20 per athlete

    • Students from schools from Primary Sport Canterbury Schools $10 per student

ENTRY PROCESS

  • ENTRY LIMITS: we have a limit of 75 athletes in each category (eg year 6 boys has a limit of 75 athletes)

  • Entry allocations will be done on a first in first served basis

  • ENTRY OPENING SOON

KEY INFORMATION

  1. IMPORTANT Officials for the day: All schools entering more than 4 students are required to allocate one person for official duties. These people must be named on the official entry form, and schools marshals will need to choose either set up or pack down in addition to their duty on course during the races. If schools do not provide a helper their athletes will not be allowed to start the event

  2. There will be no prize giving, certificates will be available to download on the PSC website

  3. Drinks: Competitors should bring their own drinks and refreshments.

RULES (basic)

  1. Drafting is allowed on the bike leg for individuals but not teams

  2. Time trial bikes are not allowed

  3. Athletes must wear a helmet whenever they are touching their bike and shoes on the run leg

  4. Mount/Dismount line - athletes cannot get on their bike until they are over the mount line. They must be off their bikes before the dismount line.

  5. Out of region athletes can compete but they are not eligible for prizes

  6. Teams - team members must be from the same school

VOLUNTEERS - to make this event happen we need volunteers to help with marshalling, set up, pack down and other tasks. If you can help please put your name down in the form below. Schools entering 3 or more students are required to supply a marshal.
