Club & Affiliated Coached Sessions

Your first booking at a club session is free (when you register with MindBody, select the "TRI-B4-U-$" option when paying for a session), with another free session included in your membership.  After that, most sessions from our Waltham base are only $5.
 
For all the sessions below, members can book and pay via MindBody.  Simply login using our MindBody "Training" tab up the top, and you can find the workouts you would like to attend. 

If you're part of our Canterbury Triathlon Academy, all training sessions can also be booked through the MindBody training page, once you're a member of both the club and CTA programme.  Please contact Axel Reiser, CTA Director at directorcta@canterburytriclub.co.nz.

MONDAY RUNNING (STARTS October 15th to April).
  • When: Monday 5.30pm - the first 30mins in core conditioning on the fields behind the Waltham Pool so if you are late just come and join in when you arrive
  • Where: Waltham Pool, 30 Waltham Road
  • What: 5-30-6pm is core work and running drills, 6-7pm is a structured run workout
  • Who: All levels welcome from 14 years up. Intervals are modified based on speed & ability. 
  • Coach: John Newsom or a guest coach

MONDAY INDOOR BIKE SESSION (WINTER ONLY).
  • When: Monday 5.45pm set-up, 6pm - 7pm
  • Where: Waltham Pool, 30 Waltham Road
  • What: Each session will feature a warm up and then 40-50 minutes of varied speed and power sets, finished off with a short stretch session. It’s a fun and social way to help build fitness through the dark winter evenings. Bring your own bike, but trainers are provided.
  • Who: Beginner to intermediate but advanced can come as well given we're all on stationary trainers anyway. 
  • Bring: road bicycle, towel, water bottle

TUESDAY MORNING RUNNING (CURRENTLY ON HOLD).
  • When: Tuesday 6:30am - 7:30am
  • Where: Waltham Pool, 30 Waltham Road - meet at the front door. 
  • What: 
  • Run session focusing on technique and speed work for all abilities. As your technique/form improves, so does your running economy. Running economy is simply the amount of energy you expend to sustain a particular pace. Everyone puts in the K's to improve their running economy and subtle adjustments to running form complement the ultimate goal of running faster with less effort (off the bike!). Session consists of easy warm up/ acclerations / dynamic hip warm-up/ accelerations (progressing to sprint efforts)/ fartlek (interval) sets/ warm down. 
  • Who: Any level is welcome, as training programme is adapted for all.

TUESDAY EVENING CIRCUIT (ALL YEAR).
  • When: Tuesday 6pm - 7pm
  • Where: Waltham Pool, 30 Waltham Road
  • What: Session consists of a variety of strength and conditioning exercises blended with cardio in a fun atmosphere, utilising equipment and the surrounding envrironment - every week is different!
  • Who: Any level is welcome, as you work at your pace individually or in teams
  • Coach: In conjunction with Team CP, with Penelope Watson
  • Cost: $5 members - BOOK HERE

WEDNESDAY BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE SWIM SESSION (ALL YEAR)
  • When: Wednesday 6:30am - 7:30am
  • Where: Graham Condon Pool, Papanui
  • What: swim fitness session (optional stretch in spa post-session)
  • Who: beginner to intermediate (3 lanes booked for various levels)
  • Bring: swim equipment accessories (basic recommended - pull buoy, hand paddles / optional - fins, band), water bottle
  • Coach: Craig Moore swimming@canterburytriclub.co.nz
  • Cost: $7 a session members, $8.50 non-members, + pool admission (concession card from reception most economical option) - BOOK HERE
 
THURSDAY RUNNING (WINTER) + BIKE-RUN (SUMMER)

 

SATURDAY SWIM / BIKE / RUN (November to April)

  • When: Saturday 8am
  • Where: Corsair Bay
  • What: Group swim followed by informal groups going on different length rides & runs based on their race distance
  • Who: Intermediate to advanced
  • Coach: TBC
  • Cost: no cost but all those joining are expected to be members. 

 

SUNDAY BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE SWIM TECHNIQUE SESSION (WINTER ONLY)

  • When: Sunday 8am - 9am
  • Where: Graham Condon Pool, Papanui
  • What: swim technique session (optional stretch in spa post-session)
  • Who: beginner to intermediate (3 lanes booked for various levels)
  • Bring: swim equipment accessories (basic recommended - pull buoy, hand paddles / optional - fins, band), water bottle
